Court Reporting Grammar and Punctuation by Diane Castilaw – A product review

When applying for a court reporting position at a local, prestigious firm, the owner was very curious as to my grammatical knowledge. I told him I know what I learned in school. He quizzed me by asking how would I punctuation such and such sentence. I wouldn’t say I failed, but I will say that I wasn’t as smart as I thought I was. The owner told me to buy Court Reporting Grammar and Punctuation by Diane Castilaw. He told me that at one point when he first started the firm he gave a copy of this reference book to all his reporters.

I can proudly say that I have read this book over five times, and enjoyed every hour of it. This book gets straight to the point. It is concise, yet elaborte. It clear, even though there are challenging concepts. There are also plenty of examples to learn from, and exercises to quiz yourself.

This book has a great, extensive glossary.

Every concept is learned in logical order, making it easy even for someone with NO prior knowledge. I give this book 5 out of 5.

I try to read this book for an hour each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I keep the book in my purse and pull it out whenever I have nothing to do.
